Welcome to
The Dog with the Crooked Tail
Was he a dachshund or a chihuahua? No one could be quite sure, but they did know he was the dog with the crooked tail. Why was his tail crooked? Perhaps he needed a little more love.
We don’t have an answer for why his tail was crooked – but Buddy boy, my late and great Dog with the Crooked Tail, was (and still is) the muse for my upcoming debut children’s short chapter book, which is the first of a series of four books. Buddy the chiweenie’s story is based on his real-life habits, which included snarfing up anything he could find, entering backpacks to inhale snacks, and making giant puppy-dog eyes and throwing his two paws up in the air whenever he wanted to share in the munching (which was always!)
Welcome to our website and blog! I’m Chelsea, and I spend my days walking, hiking, and laughing while documenting the adventures of Buddy’s best friend Ladybug, the Tiny Dog who Barks Things Away. Until the end of this past summer, our dear Buddy joined us on all our adventures, too. My young nieces and nephews, who love to write and listen to silly stories, are also a major inspiration for this first book in the Dog with the Crooked Tail series – and some of the human characters are based on their personalities!
Buddy’s best friend, the five-pound spotted Ladybug, appears at the end of the book – and she will be the main character, along with Buddy, in Book 2 – The Tiny Dog who Barks Things Away. Buddy loved to “hug-walk” with Ladybug – i.e. He would always cozy up with her on walks and hikes! Buddy couldn’t resist begging and leaping for foods of all sorts – and singing for his favourite supper (pizza!) with Ladybug.
